Bay of Quinte - Hastings

New cool thing this year!

Our area’s been selected by the OTA & Tennis Canada for a Community Tennis League hub!

https://communitytennisleagues.com/ontario-leagues#quinte

Sign up by June 10th for the upcoming season.  All players must be over 18 and will be playing singles.

Beginners who are thinking, “How can I find someone to play?  This is for you.

Experienced players who are thinking, “How can I find someone else to play around my skill level?”  This is also for you.

If you want to win prizes just for playing then this is also for you.  You receive a $5 Tim Hortons gift card after completing 4 matches, and for every match you play you’ll be entered into a draw to win 2 tickets to the National Bank Open!

The rules are flexible when it comes to how you can structure your match between different players.  Regular sets (to 6), short sets (to 4) and  a pro sets (to 8) all count within the system.

Anybody who can play within the Bay of Quinte - Hastings area is welcome to join, and any courts within our area can be used.  I’ve listed all the usable tennis courts I could find at the bottom of this email.  So if you know anyone outside the Quinte Tennis Club that would be interested then please forward this message along!

Air Quality Announcement

Please note that ongoing wildfires in northern Ontario and Quebec are impacting air quality.  As a result, the Air Quality Index (AQI) & Air Quality Health Index (AQHI) can vary considerably from hour to hour.  What's tolerable in the short-term may not be tolerable in the long-term, especially during outdoor athletic activities.

We suggest consulting these government sources to monitor Belleville's AQHI & AQI so you can take care and assess your own individual risk:

- Semi-frequent AQHI levels and future forecasts for Belleville can be found here, along with risk assessment sources.  (marginally useful future forecasting)   https://weather.gc.ca/airquality/pages/onaq-043_e.html

- Live AQI readings for Belleville can be found here. (however, unreliable future forecasting beyond hourly readings, does not account for wildfire fluctuations)     https://www.iqair.com/ca/canada/ontario/belleville

What is AQI?  https://www.iqair.com/newsroom/what-is-aqi
